A staged trailer is a trailer shot during a staging, but not a performance, of a show. This trailer was shot during the dress rehearsal, but it could also have been shot during a tech, pre-performance or a run staged entirely for filming.

Shooting a trailer during the dress rehearsal allows us to get up close and personal with the performance, in all the ways that would be impossible during a live show. This freedom allows the camera to move with the action, and repeat tricky shots to create a trailer more engaging than a trailer cut from live performance footage.

This is a trailer for the show BEATS by Kieran Hodgson, a coming of age story about a 15-year-olds first night out at a rave. The team behind the show wanted the show to feel like a night out, and wanted the trailer to reflect this.
We decided to shoot the trailer in a studio, focussing on rave imagery, light effects and trippy visuals. The effect is a trailer which reflects the story and themes of the show, while also showcasing high production value,

Footage Trailer
After we've filmed your show live, we can cut together a trailer for the piece using what we've captured without needing to do any more shoots. This trailer for the show Stamptown, a chaotic, clown-comedy variety night was put together using just footage of the show, captured live.
These trailers work best for shows with lots of action, lots of variety and lots of visual spectacle. From just a few clips from the live show, audiences can get a feel for the energy and the vibe of your show.

This show took aim at "pretentious" theatre and "high concept" pieces. So, we chose to make a trailer which was as pretentious and high concept as possible.

This trailer was shot months in advance of the debut of the play, while the team were still figuring out some small things (like the script) but knew the soul of the show was satire. We decided to shoot on location in Margate, choosing a beach to play about with the environmental themes of the show.
The video feels like the show, without being the show, and is its own experience which communicates the style and humour that an audience can expect.
